Strategic Plan

CREOQ’s strategic plan is developed by the management team and reviewed annually. The established goals and objectives are reviewed quarterly to ensure progression and achievement of developed targets. The strategic plan is developed for a three-year period, and the goals are then incorporated into annual operational plans as well as quality improvement plans and safety and risk management plans. The strategic plan is then communicated to employees during bi-monthly meetings and to other stakeholders through our website.

Global Strategic Themes

  • Safety

CREOQ’s mission is to offer a center of excellence where patient and staff safety is at the core of all our activities. To achieve this, we maintain patient and staff safety as a priority in all our care improvement initiatives, including investment in cutting-edge technologies, improvement of our safety processes, and the expertise and excellence of our teams.

  • Satisfaction

In line with CREOQ’s vision to be a leader in ambulatory surgery, we aim to maximize the satisfaction of patients, surgeons, and staff by facilitating access to care, communication, and confidence in the care received. We focus on continuous informal feedback as well as formal quarterly comments to identify points to monitor and improve over the coming years.

  • Retention

CREOQ’s core values are based on excellence, safety, respect, innovation, accessibility, and empathy. These values must resonate and be reflected by our staff. We are therefore committed to properly training, valuing, and listening to our teams to retain and attract surgeons.

Strategic Objectives

Our goals and objectives therefore stem from these general themes: patient safety, patient and surgeon satisfaction, and staff retention.

  1. Increase Patient Safety in Perioperative Care Initiatives
    Initiatives:

    • Implement a standardized verification protocol (checklist) before, during, and after surgery. Time out (3 phases).
    • Optimize patient risk factors preoperatively to reduce complication incidence using standardized tools (ASA Class, Caprini, PONV).
    • Perform medication reconciliation at all points of care transfer.
    • Regularly train staff on best safety practices.
    • Use patient tracking technologies, such as real-time vital sign monitoring systems.
    • Evaluate and reduce postoperative infection risks through strict hand hygiene protocols.
  2. Increase Patient and Surgeon Satisfaction Initiatives
    Initiatives:

    • Create a post-operative feedback system to gather opinions from patients and surgeons.
    • Organize regular meetings with surgeons to discuss possible improvements.
    • Implement a patient support program, including clear information about the surgical process and postoperative follow-up.
    • Improve the work environment (waiting room, rooms, etc.) to offer a more pleasant experience for patients and surgeons.
  3. Increase Staff Retention Initiatives
    Initiatives:

    • Offer professional development and continuous training programs.
    • Create a collaborative work environment and value individual contributions.
    • Implement workplace wellness initiatives (flexible schedules, mental health programs, team-building activities).
    • Conduct regular workplace climate assessments (surveys) and act on results.
    • Implement a policy against workplace violence and harassment and evaluate risk factors for violence annually.

Implementation

  • Form a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and administrative representatives.

Timeline

  • Short-term (0-12 months):
    • Evaluate current practices and identify weaknesses through an audit.
    • Launch safety training and repeat the audit.
  • Medium-term (12-24 months):
    • Implement verification protocols and gather feedback.
    • Begin wellness and professional development programs.
  • Long-term (2-3 years):
    • Evaluate initiative impact and adjust accordingly.
    • Create an annual report on progress made and objectives achieved.

Evaluation and Monitoring

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure patient safety, satisfaction, and staff retention.
  • Schedule quarterly meetings to analyze results and adjust the plan if necessary.

Communication

  • Ensure transparent communication throughout the process with all stakeholders, including staff and patients.

Conclusion
This strategic plan aims to create a safe and satisfying environment for patients and staff while strengthening the surgery center’s reputation. By engaging all stakeholders and monitoring progress, the center will be able to achieve its objectives and improve the quality of care.
